Course Overview

This unit can be delivered as a standalone award or as part of the Level 3 Foundation Qualification in HRP. The unit starts with an explanation of the employment relationship and the key parties involved in it. It then focuses on different HR activities such as family friendly legislation, work-life balance, discrimination and the process of termination. Both good practice and legal requirements are discussed for each and the policies and practices within an organisation that support good practice are identified.

Who Is This Course For?

This unit is for anyone who is either new to the HR profession or wants to refresh their understanding of the skills and behaviours essential within HR. It is essential for individuals who are interested in meeting the requirements for a CIPD professional membership.

There are no prerequisites for this unit and prior to signing up we can arrange for an adviser to discuss your requirements and experience with you to ensure that you are enrolled onto the most suitable programme.

How is This Course Delivered?

Our mixed-mode approach offers true flexibility giving you the opportunity to choose where, when and how you learn.

Active Learning

A one day workshop for candidates who prefer to participate in planned interactive sessions and have exposure to other learners and their organisation’s practices. The workshop provides an ideal learning environment in which expert trainers present and facilitate practical activities, group discussions and networking. Workshops are scheduled on a regular basis.

Distance Learning

For candidates who prefer to work mainly by themselves with supported learning materials, using our Virtual Learning Environment, allowing individuals to work at own pace with maximum flexibility.

Whichever method you choose, you are supported by a personal adviser.

How is This Course Assessed?

These are not traditionally taught qualifications but focus more on specific personal or organisational objectives rather than solely academic theory. Units are assessed by reviewing written work based narrative, supported by evidence. Evidence takes many forms and is compiled in a portfolio that is assessed by Watson Martin Partnership experts and verified by CIPD external verifiers before awarding the qualification. There are no exams or research projects at this level.
