When you become an HR or L&D apprentice with Watson Martin you will be supported throughout your programme by one of our expert tutors. Our apprenticeship tutors are CIPD qualified HR and L&D professionals, well versed in coaching and encouraging candidates as they progress their careers.
We know how important it is to reassure apprentices that they will receive the best possible support during their programme. No matter which career stage you are at, your personal tutor will help you balance the demands of your day-to-day work with completing the apprenticeship programme in the most flexible way to suit your business. They are also there to guide your manager through the process with regular progress meetings and advice.
We offer three apprenticeship levels so there is a programme for everyone whether you are new to the industry or are an experienced HR or L&D practitioner. Apprenticeships not only develop people, they bring new skills to a business. They are a cost effective way for organisations to grow their own HR or L&D talent while you build your career.
If your role is with a levy paying company and you want to gain new HR knowledge and skills while at work and have the opportunity to become CIPD qualified, then consider an apprenticeship in the people profession, safe in the knowledge that with Watson Martin you will have an expert to guide you to successful completion.

Here’s what some of our apprentices say about their expert tutors …
“I have nothing but positive things to say about my apprenticeship. It has been absolutely brilliant. My adviser Evelyn Thurley and all the webinar tutors are exceptional. I have been out of education for a long time, but Evelyn has always been supportive and accessible. Her guidance and support are invaluable.”
Level 5 HR apprentice, John Norton, Divisional Recruitment and Retention Lead for Specialist Services at University Hospital Southampton
“My tutor was fantastic, really quick to respond and gave me great feedback. I like to be ahead of my deadlines and she really suited my style of working. There is a webinar for each unit and then I worked with my adviser to complete the assessment. I just really enjoyed my apprenticeship. I gained so much extra knowledge and experience to progress my career.”
Level 3 L&D apprentice, Rebecca Kunzler, a learning specialist at Domestic & General who gained a Distinction in her programme.
“My adviser is Emma Taylor and she’s lovely! She is always there to help and is so kind and patient. She is always open and responsive either by email or through our regular progress reviews over Teams to keep me on track. Overall, we have a very good apprentice/adviser relationship. She knows when I need her and when I don’t. I feel comfortable that she will not judge me for asking a ‘silly’ question.”
Level 3 HR apprentice, Laura Crowther, HR Assistant at Leathams.
