The HR Support Level 3 apprenticeship is an entry route into HR and is aimed at individuals wanting a good grounding in the HR basics. Having a supporting role in the team, some typical responsibilities may include:

  • handling day-to-day queries

  • providing HR advice

  • using HR systems to keep records

  • providing the business with relevant HR information

  • working with the business on HR changes

  • providing advice to managers on a wide range of HR issues

  • working on a range of HR processes, varying from transactional to relatively complex issues from recruitment through to retirement

Duration

The HR Support Apprenticeship is an Advanced apprenticeship, meaning it is the equivalent to two A-level passes. The duration is approximately 18 months, with an additional 12 weeks to complete the End Point Assessment (EPA).

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements are set by the employer, but may include 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English. Apprentices will need to demonstrate capability of operating competently at the Level 3 standard of work.

Apprentices without English or Maths at Level 2 must achieve this before taking the End Point Assessment.

On-programme Learning

Throughout the programme apprentices will be supported, coached and guided by an industry expert Adviser and have access to our substantive Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Progress will be tracked through our ePortfolio system, OneFile. Apprentices will follow an individual learning plan and complete tasks and activities to support each of the components and requirements of the HR Support apprenticeship.

Although not a mandatory requirement of the apprenticeship, there is the option for apprentices to study the CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice qualification.

End Point Assessment

The End Point Assessment takes place once the apprentice has completed all the on-programme requirements of the apprenticeship and is an assessment of the Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours. The End Point Assessment is carried out by an independent End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO), chosen by the employer

This End Point Assessment will include:

  • Consultative Project

The Consultative Project gathers evidence against the knowledge and skills components for the Level 3 HR Support apprenticeship standard. The purpose of this assessment method is to carry out a significant piece of work while meeting the needs of the business, taking a maximum of 3 months to complete. Upon completion of the project a 3000-word report is submitted to the EPAO.

  • Professional Discussion

Following submission of the Consultative Project the apprentice will complete a Professional Discussion. Lasting around 60 minutes the Professional Discussion gives the apprentice the opportunity to make detailed and proactive contributions through a discussion to confirm their competency across the necessary skills and behaviours.
