Which CIPD Learning Route is Right for Me?

If you are thinking about getting CIPD qualified to progress your career but are overwhelmed by the choice of study options available, then here’s our how-to guide to help you make your decision. As HR and L&D specialists for over 17 years, Watson Martin has supported thousands of people professionals to gain the skills and knowledge they need to take them to the next level.  As a result of this experience, we have developed a range of learning methods to ensure there is something for everyone.

The first point to note is that wherever you are in your HR or L&D career, there’s a CIPD qualification that is right for you. So, whether you are just starting out in the profession or have many years of experience under your belt, the three CIPD qualification levels of Foundation, Associate and Advanced have been designed to provide you with the required knowledge and understanding to help you climb the ladder!

But having researched the appropriate qualification level, how do you decide on the best delivery method to suit your learning style? Do you like being left on your own to go at your own pace or do you prefer learning with others in a more traditional classroom setting? Perhaps you are new to academia or haven’t studied for many years? Whatever your individual circumstances, this is where our experience and personal approach to your development comes to the fore. We’re here to talk you through the study options available with Watson Martin so you can start your learning journey with confidence.

Study Options

Watson Martin is one of the few CIPD centres that offers four distinct studying options to Foundation, Associate and Advanced candidates:

If you want to get ahead in the people profession in the quickest possible time, then our Fast Track CIPD programmes are the ideal choice.  You can start this at any time and with maximum flexibility guaranteed throughout your learning journey, you can work through your modules at your own pace and up to six months faster than other delivery methods. That’s a great way to accelerate your future job prospects! Combining the very best in online learning via our VLE with 1:1 tuition from an expert adviser throughout your studies, Watson Martin Fast Track will get you CIPD qualified quickly and without compromising on the level of support for which we are renowned.

Do you prefer your learning to be with a group of like-minded professionals from the comfort of your own home or office? If yes, then our popular live and online Workshop programmes are for you.  And with the start of a new academic year, September is the ideal month to enrol! Not only will you receive that extra insight and tuition on how to pass your CIPD assessments from an industry expert during your one-day sessions, you may also connect with a whole group of new people across the profession who could be invaluable to your future career. Delivered via Zoom, our online classrooms are designed to be fully interactive using breakout rooms and group exercises. As with all our programmes, you will be supported throughout by your personal adviser and have access to a wide selection of fantastic online resources.

If you want to be in complete control throughout your learning journey then our 100% super flexible Online courses are ideal. Developed to help you obtain your CIPD qualification and membership in a timeframe that suits you, 100% Online does exactly what it says on the tin but with one important difference. As with our other study methods, you will be supported throughout your course by a specialist adviser which means regular 1:1s to discuss each assessment. This individual expert support sets us apart from other CIPD providers and ensures you are on the right track before you start writing.  In addition, you will have access to the very best online resources including the latest audio clips, videos, podcasts, reports and articles on specific topics to help you complete your units. Competitively priced to provide great value for money, 100% Online is the ideal choice for those who want to study at their own pace.

The fact that Watson Martin is one of only a handful of centres approved by the CIPD to offer Tailored qualifications epitomises the individualised approach we take with all our candidates. Tailored essentially means we help you use your relevant experience and work-based evidence to gain your CIPD qualification.  Available to candidates at Foundation, Associate and Advanced levels, our advisers will coach and guide you on how best to use your experience and work projects as part of your assessed work.  Your adviser will review each assessment with you and determine where you already have evidence to meet the criteria from within the workplace.  As Tailored gives recognition for the work you have undertaken, the benefits include reducing your study and assessment writing time and there may also be less academic content, although you still need to show up-to-date knowledge through your interpretation of current research.

Tailored qualifications suit all our study modes, if for example you want to attend our workshops, learn online or want to use the Fast Track option, and they are all delivered with 1:1 adviser support plus access to all our usual range of online resources.

In a Nutshell
