Reed Learning CIPD advisers are very special individuals with an abundance of industry experience and a genuine interest in the development of others. Each one of them works hard to support their CIPD candidates throughout every step of their qualification. Our advisers really do ensure our business retains that personal touch, something we know candidates greatly value. This regular feature publicly recognises their contribution to your CIPD success.

We have asked Amanda Harris, our consultant based in Brighton, for her advice to help you gain that all important CIPD qualification along with what she loves most about her job.

Amanda’s top tips for CIPD success:

If you get stuck, reach out for help because the support is there. Keep that momentum going and don’t just disappear.

Use a time management App like the Pomodoro technique. Getting started is the hardest thing of all so download an App like this to help you think about process rather than objectives.

Here’s what our candidates say about Amanda

About Amanda

The glowing feedback Amanda receives from her candidates is a testament to her proficiency as a tutor. One of our most experienced personal advisers with nearly 40 years working in the profession, her knowledge of HR, L&D and OD is second to none.

A Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, Amanda has a track record of developing and implementing innovative business and HR strategies and a proven ability to develop people at all levels. She has held senior HR positions in both the public and private sectors including ten years as Head of HR for the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a role which encompassed all aspects of Human Resources and took her all over the world.

Amanda left the AKDN to set up her own consultancy and as a Chartered Occupational Psychologist specialising in employee relations, change management and organisational development is in great demand. She has lectured on CIPD accredited and Masters courses since 2006 and as well as supporting candidates at all levels at Reed Learning, she leads on a number of our workshops including employment law, performance management and resourcing and talent management.

Working with students and clients in all different sectors is what keeps Amanda on her toes and up to date. She loves the mix of theory and practical which her job allows and, having achieved a PhD on evidence-based decision making, it’s not surprising that she says:
“If the practice isn’t based on sound research evidence and if the research evidence isn’t applied in practice then it would be insufficient for me; it’s the combination of doing both that I enjoy.”

But the most satisfying aspect of Amanda’s role is seeing former students advance in their careers with many achieving promotion.
