Congratulations to Suzanne Moore who has been awarded our Candidate of the Quarter. Suzanne is a worthy candidate for the accolade as not only did she achieve all merits and distinctions to gain her CIPD Advanced Diploma, but the qualification helped her to secure a fantastic new job!

Since qualifying, Suzanne has become Head of Organisation Design and Development for Wirral Council, a large local authority in the metropolitan borough of Merseyside. She is excited about her new role and the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of residents through her work.

Improving strategic thinking

“The qualification has had a massive impact on my career. If I hadn’t undertaken the Diploma and had the support from my personal adviser at Reed Learning, I really don’t think I would be where I am today.  In fact, a CIPD qualification or working towards one was a requirement for my recent roles, but it has given me so much more in terms of improving my strategic thinking, learning how to be more creative and being aware of best practice,” she explains.

Reed Learning’s Candidate of the Quarter recognises the hard work and personal dedication of individuals who go the extra mile to become CIPD qualified.  Suzanne was nominated by her personal adviser for her excellent standard of work and set of results.

Juggling work and a busy job

Suzanne has followed an interesting career path to her current role.  A law graduate from the University of Leeds, she went to work for Capita and then South Yorkshire Police where she studied for a Masters in Fraud Management before joining the Independent Office for Police Conduct as a Lead Investigator in 2012.  From there, she went into training and became Head of Central Learning and Development before being appointed to Acting Head of HR. It was during this time she was also studying for her Advanced CIPD qualification and juggling a busy job with the demands of learning.

“It was a challenging couple of years but I knew I needed the qualification for my own personal and professional development and to further develop my career and it has,” she says.

Why Reed Learning

Suzanne chose Reed Learning after researching a range of CIPD centres.  “Reed Learning stood out. I liked the way it was structured offering distance learning with a personal tutor and the extra option of support through exam workshops.  It was flexible and fitted my needs.  I have already recommended Reed Learning to a colleague,” she adds.

And Suzanne’s recipe for qualification success?  “To purposely select modules that related to my work along with being ruthlessly organised,” she laughs.

Now Suzanne is aiming high and she hopes her career will lead to an HR Director role combining Human Resources with Organisational Development.  We congratulate her on achieving her CIPD Advanced Diploma and wish her every success.
